Breaking out ahead of Christmas!
As you may be aware, here at Solar we like to reward our people for their hardwork whilst also trying to foster a good team culture together. By running company sponsored activities we want to bring our people together and give them opportunity to get to know each other outside the confines of the office. A big stride to us achieving this has been the creation of “Pay Day Yay Day” (PDYD) which is a monthly activity funded by the company. Thus far we have gone for drinks, gone for meals but this month, given that it is December, we did something a bit different. We decided that to close this year’s PDYD’s out, we would descend on Team Breakout in the centre of town. Thanks to the other offices covering the phones, the Salford office was allowed to finish at 4pm and 17 of us made our way to the town hall to begin our escape. Working in teams of 3 and 4 and made up of different departments, the teams battled out it out against the clock (and of course each other) to work through a series of logic challenges, puzzles and brain teasers.
Only one team made it out in time, almost completely thanks for Ian Vickery, Infrastructure Solution Architect however the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The evening was then followed by a few drinks in town for those who wanted to get into the festive spirit.
The remaining 3 offices still have their December PDYD in the works, Chippenham are looking to head to the Bath Christmas Markets, Harlow will be going to Junkyard Golf in central London and our Cardiff office are going out for a meal and a few drinks. We also have a number of festive activities planned for the month including secret Santa, Christmas jumper day, in office feasts and a few other bits here and there - overall it is a great month to be at Solar!
